I've been working on this album for too long. It suffered
set backs along the way like my hard disk drive burning out, my laptop
monitor screen stopping working, star wars eposide III on the playstation,
Tenchu stealth assisins III on the playstation, work, a sudden lack
of new keyboards at car boot sales and my girlfriend running off with
a pikey welshman. It's been finished for a couple of months now and
been in the hands of Mr Alan Witts of 62 East Avenue Oxford...WHEN ARE
YOU GOING TO DO THE MASTERING ALAN?
I've just
finished building my new prototype corridor studio in Oxford
- photos to follow and things are looking up as I'm about to start working
on a remix for Pope Joan and getting a new live set together
for touring in July.

Following
on from last years ‘Underfelt’ EP we are incredibly proud
to announce the release of the debut Mewgatz long-player.
Ed McGregor aka
Mewgatz first came to our attention 5 years ago when we heard
the weirdest and most warped sounds we’d ever heard pouring out
of a tiny halls-of-residence boxroom at Brighton University
where Ed was then studying Music and Visual Arts. Over the 5 years that
followed we watched with bated-breath as Ed morphed from a delicate
and intriguing electonica artist into the schizophrenic circuit-destroying
assaultist that he is today.
The full length
is 12 abstract electronic love-ballards constructed around the manipulated
brain of a plethora of abandoned keyboards and electronic gadgets. It’s
a modern-day introspective pop masterpiece that is demandingly pioneering
but never un-accessible.
Artists like Mewgatz are the reason that Jim and I
first started a label all those years ago and we’re all incredibly
proud to be involved with such a promising new talent.
This page is set
up as the blog home for Mewgatz where in the following
months leading up to the release of his record Ed will be updating you
all with the progress of his recordings, his live shows and all the
weird and wonderful electronic ‘car-booty’ that Ed discovers
each weekend as he travels the length and breadth of the UK.
Here are a few
quick snaps we took of Ed in his home-studio putting the finishing
touches to the first recordings of his new album.
