SUBTLE - FOR HERO FOR FOOL

by Lets Be-Ginn

‘Wow’ I think, reclining back in my chair and remembering to take air in. ‘For Hero, For Fool’ is a breathless offering of electronica fused hip hop and rocking beats and by god it’s good!

It’s difficult to work out exactly what is going on most of the time but you know that you’re supposed to be partying and it’s probably snowing rainbow coloured buffalo when you peer out the window. I should imagine it’s the music that would be playing during the Alice in Wonderland Tea-Party if it got ‘pimped out’ a bit.

Subtle consist of Anticon stalwarts Doseone and Jeffrey ‘Jel’ Logan aided by ‘Dax’ Pierson, this collective imagination brought together is almost a recipe for exploding ones mind. But that would be a waste as you’d not get the second and third listen as the masterpiece slowly wraps itself around your spine and begins to play with most of the nerves in your body. Perhaps somehow the hip hop equivalent to Tool, the more time you give Subtle the greater the work becomes…it is simply unfathomable to take it all in straight away but ultimately rewarding. This is one of those special albums that doesn’t come along very often, its fireworks in your head, its total genius, its probably the hip-hop record of the year, you wouldn’t want to miss that would you?
