Following on from 'OIB Records Split Series Volume 1' (featuring Munch Munch; Gay Against You; Lonely Ghosts; The Tumbledown Estate) and 'OIB Records Split Series Volume 2' (featuring SJ Esau; Half-handed Cloud; Suburban Kids With Biblical Names; Kopek) comes OIB RECORDS SPLIT SERIES VOLUME 3 starring LOVVERS / KNYFE HYTS / THE DEATH SET / BEST FWENDS - Four of the most exciting contemporary DIY punk bands on the planet! The record is set for an OIB Records webstore release of August 17th and a worldwide release of August 31st.
Each split 7" is built around a loose musical theme as OIB Records select four artists per volume that have a similar ethos in their approach to music construction. As a release the OIB Records split series is designed to provide an outlet for its acts to experiment more widely and create something outside the parameters of the more cohesive album or EP format.
Limited to just 450 copies worldwide with no repress!!! Each 7inch record comes with reversible gatefold sleeves, inserts and one inch badges designed by the bands involved. The series will culminate in 2010 with Volume 5 and a series comprehensive CD compilation.

Lovvers - Boys Club / Vox Pop
Hailing from Nottingham England but now living out of beaten tour buses the world over, Lovvers are a lo-fi scuzzy dance-punk four-piece featuring members of the seminal UK post-metal band The Murder of Rosa Luxemberg. Technically two songs in one 'Boys Club / Vox Pop' is two minutes of searing bratish punk-noise that sounds like the Butthole surfers jamming with the Minutemen and the Germs!

Knyfe Hyts - Hyts Of Summer
During the writing process for the eagerly awaited new Ex Models album, Zach Lehrhoff and Shahin Motia ended up inadvertently writing a bunch of hypnotic and overdriven stoner-rock jams. Deciding that they weren't quite right for Ex Models, Zach and Shahin teamed up with ex-Ex Model Shah Motia to form Knyfe Hyts. Building upon the ideas and themes of their earlier self-released recordings which were heavily overdriven and distorted messes of brilliance, Knyfe Hyts brings us their new reworking of the 'Hyts Of Summer', their most exciting and developed recording to date. It's two minutes of scuzzed-out stoner guitars and falsetto vocals that quickly builds into an aggressive psych-rock freakout.

The Death Set - Zombie
Having released one of our favourite albums of 2008, 'Worldwide' (Ninja Tune / Counter Records), we just had to get The Death Set on the 'punk' volume of our OIB Records split series. Formed by Johnny Siera and Beau Velasco in Australia in 2005, the band soon relocated to Baltimore USA and began to tear up every house-party in sight with their heavily punk-influenced electro and reckless disregard for instruments. Drenched with b-movie samples and grotesque brain-eating lyrics 'Zombie' is a furious, electro-punk track that features ludicrously fast keys, 'killer' riffs, and Johnny's trademark high-pitched rapid-fire punk snarl.

Best Fwends - Hail
Following on from last years 'Alphabetically Arranged' album on Moshi Moshi comes the new offering from Austin Texas' kings of spazz-punk, Best Fwends. Epic from start to finish 'Hail' is Best Fwends at their most demented and sleep deprived. As lightning cracks ring in the forthcoming of night, driving metal riffs pierce through the howling of wolves as Anthony and Dustin arrive to narrate our story of the battle of Hell, and as the final organ rings out and the demon's flap their wings overheard you're left standing there, mouth agape, wondering to yourself "how the fuck did these guys write the music to the Bacardi advert?!".
