OUT NOW

Hi guys,

Due to numerous requests we’ve decided to release the Mewgatz – Underfelt record on MP3 format.

For those of you who don’t own a record player you can now purchase the 6 track EP via our store page for the reasonable price of £4.50 (it’s listed as £3.00 as the paypal shopping cart will automatically add £1.50 shipping). Once ordered you will receive a web-link in your inbox within 24 hours to where you will be able to download the record. All MP3 tracks are at 192kbps.

For those of you who do own a record player but still want the MP3s, if you add a request in the paypal comments box when you purchase the 10” version we’ll email you the link to the download for the tracks.

Ten inch vinyl is my personal favourite format of all time, if you can, please support vinyl releases!

Mewgatz, named after a child’s mispronunciation (or is that misconception) of music, is the twisted brain-child of Ed McGregor. Spending the better part of his formative years in a velux windowed, floral carpeted attic in the midlands with a collection of old abandoned keyboards, Mewgatz quickly turned his electronic graveyard into a sanctuary where he mastered the warped art of circuit-bending.

This guerrilla art-form involves taking an electronic noise making device such as a Casio keyboard and intentionally manipulating its circuitry, shorting out specific points on the circuit-board, creating sounds that were never before thought possible or even desirable.

Mewgatz’s debut release Underfelt is delicate yet damaging electronica of the highest order. Constructed around the brain of a £3 Yamaha keyboard and an 80’s keytar, it’s dark and harrowing basement pop. Paying homage to his fascination with original keyboard presets and demo songs, Mewgatz fuses glitching preset bossanova beats with delicate guitar chord progressions and tender untrained vocals, schizophrenically remixing popular contemporary tracks until they’re bent out of all recognition. These are lo-fidelity electronic ballads drenched in raw, passionate, and vulnerable emotion.

With soldering-iron raised firmly towards the heavens Mewgatz is on a quest for melodic chaos, to find that fleeting moment were in the void between human fragility and robotic malfunction, unpredictability and stability collide.
