You really wouldn’t
believe how many bands from provincial England are still churning out
Nu-Metal on a daily basis.
I know this because we here at OIB Records HQ care to take the time
to listen to every single band that sends us a MySpace message or a
demo in the post.
Very occasionally
however we hear from someone who really isn’t that bad. When that
happens we like to make a note of their MySpace page for future reference
(we’ve got something big and MySpace
related on the horizon for 2009) and then usually get
on with our day safe in the knowledge that there are still bands worth
fighting for.
Then
there’s that once in a blue moon situation where
out of nowhere comes a demo that’s just so incredibly demanding
that you stop what your doing completely and listen in awe as your body
numbs at the excitement of this new discovery. It was incredibly apparent
from the very first play of his demos that Pseudo
Nippon was someone very special indeed. Having subsequently
checked out his live show a couple of times (it’s amazing by the
way!) we were quickly convinced that we HAD to release his recordings
into the world.
So it’s with
great pleasure that I announce the release of the debut B 7” ‘Edamame
Freakout’. Its four tracks of mad-capped Japanese inspired
hardcore electro J-pop. Imagine Gay Against
You or Squarepusher if they grew up in Japan,
watched Manga all day long, and only ate lucky charms. Or as Pseudo
Nippon himself describes it, “pop with pochinko and little beat
make yes, eating in colourful”.
Due
for release throughout Europe in October 2008, this
7” is going to be one beauty, cosmic, constellation surprise,
that you won’t want to miss. This
release will be limited to just 200 copies worldwide. No repress!
If you
can’t wait until October you can hear some of the tracks from
the 7” now over at the Pseudo Nippon MySpace page www.myspace.com/pseudonippon1984
