Finally the long
wait is over! Having been in production for 10 months, One
Inch Badge Records are incredibly proud to announce the imminent release
of the debut Lonely Ghosts mini-lp ‘Don’t Get Lost or
Hurt’.

From the first
moment we heard Tom Denney scream his lungs out at the second ever Help
She Can’t Swim gig at the Freebutt in Brighton we’ve
been huge fans. So its great pleasure that we can now add Lonely
Ghosts as a fully fledged member of the OIB Records roster.
The
8 track mini-album comes on CD and download formats
(iTunes and the like) and is available from our webstore on
Monday July 28th and in all good stores throughout
Europe on Monday August 11th (OIB Records are represented throughout
Europe via Southern
Records).
The
first 150 copies of the album bought in the OIB Records
webstore will also come with a limited
edition set of 4 Lonely Ghosts badges designed by Tom
Denney and friends.
4th
badge design coming soon…
You can hear tracks

Lonely
Ghosts is the brainchild of Brighton cased musician Tom Denney.
During the past four years Denney has been co-vocalist and guitarist
in the south coast indie-noise kids Help She Can’t Swim,
with whom he recorded 2 albums, a host of singles and EPs and toured
the world playing with the likes of the Blood Brothers, Sleater Kinney,
CSS, Deerhoof and Melt Banana.
When a period of
downtime from Help She Can’t Swim arose, Denney took the opportunity
to explore what he could create outside of the group songwriting dynamic.
With a handful of songs and ideas rattling around his head Denney retreated
to his home studio with a laptop, a collection of guitars and keyboards
and a CD of drum machine samples and settled into a personal experiment
in solo song writing. He emerged 8 weeks later under the pseudonym of
Lonely Ghosts with nearly an albums worth of material and a definitive
project. Exploring more pop, electro and acoustic influences than HSCS,
Lonely ghosts is an eclectic amalgamation of sounds all held together
by his love for a pure ‘pop’ tune.

Musically broader
and more personal than Denney’s previous output in HSCS, this
debut mini-album ‘Don’t Get Lost or Hurt’
sees electronic beats and casio keys rubbing shoulders with classical
instruments and sweeping string sounds. Stylistically and emotionally
the record veers from the uplifting romantic build of ‘Happy
Lovers / Friends Forever’, to the desperate electro-punk
abandon of ‘The Unpopular Future’ and the downbeat
loneliness of album closer ‘Hole in the Sky’ and
its climatic washes of droning synths, piano and tape noise.
Don’t
Get Lost or Hurt also features contributions from guest musicians
including Help She Can’t Swim band mate Leesey Frances
and label mate The Tumbledown Estate.
